Since its foundation in 1983, Odin has been buying directly from organic and biodynamic farmers<ref>Odin is part of the Demeter network</ref>, horticulturists, bakers, butchers, winemakers, pasta makers, chocolatiers, etc, and selling it with transparency to its customers as well as its cooperative members. It also produces its own vegetables in its own biodynamic farm [https://www.odin.nl/over-odin/boerderij/ De Beersche Hoeve].

Here are a few, betweeen many, efforts from Odin to reach a high level of sustainability:

<li>All fruits, vegetables and garden waste from its stores is transported separately and converted into compost. The organic waste from its distribution center in Geldermalsen is fermented for energy production and for compost.</li>
<li>Receipts are only printed if resquested by the customer.</li>
<li>Odin offers Low Waste wrappings in store, such as bamboo beakers and bee wax wraps.</li>
<li>The floors of the stores are scrubbed with machines that work on cold water and without soap.</li>
<li>The lights in each spaces of the store automatically turn out when unoccupied.</li>
