The dutch really are meat lovers…
The city of Leiden was besieged in 1674 during the Eighty Years' War against the spanish invaders. The city government failed to store food and the citizen rapidly started to die of hunger.
In the street, dogs and cats quickly disappeared in the pots. Pestilence broke out and mayor Van der Werff offered his body (according to others only his arm) as food.
